Senior Superintendent of Police for Monaragala Sisila Kumara Herath was arrested yesterday evening (08) at his official residence with a stock of dried Cannabis. Based on information received by the Police Special Task Force, a special investigation team in the Eastern Province has inspected his official residence and found a stock of nearly 15 grams of dried cannabis, according to police sources.
It is stated that the Special Task Force has received reliable information that this Superintendent of Police is leading a team to find treasures in the area. Accordingly, attention has been paid to him and it is stated that steps have been taken to check his official residence. A number of other charges have been leveled at him and sources from Monaragala area told Lankasara that he regularly receives the support of an influential politician in the area.
This police officer is a person who has been charged with the Easter Sunday bombing in 2019 and he also represented the police group that came to ask the prelates to save them from the Easter attack.
