Ministry of Health issues ten point guideline for Christmas shopping

Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Health has issued a ten point guideline to the public regarding Christmas shopping during the month of December and has requested the public to adhere to them. 

  1. Reduce Christmas shopping excursions as much as possible 
  2. Ensure that only one member of the family goes out to do the shopping
  3. Purchase items from the nearest store when it is less crowded 
  4. When standing in queue ensure you maintain 1-metre social distance. 
  5. Refrain from physical contact when greeting people during the season and maintain social distance at all times. 
  6. Refrain from organization Christmas parties and other celebrations that cause people to congregate. 
  7. Limit or refrain from taking fun trips of holidays or travelling during the Christmas holidays. 
  8. Refrain from exposing the elderly to crowds during the holidays 
  9. Use online shopping services whenever possible 
  10. Whenever you leave the house make sure your mask is on and that you maintain social distancing. Sanitize your hands regularly.
