The proposal of granting five years of unpaid leave for public servants who wish to work abroad will be presented to the cabinet to be held on Monday by Dinesh Gunawardena, Minister of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government.
According to the proposal, non-reporting to the duty will not be affected for their seniority and pensions privileges nor an impediment to their employment.
The proposal also provides an opportunity for public servants who are already abroad, with or without pay, and who need further unpaid leave, to obtain the necessary formal approvals without having to return to Sri Lanka.
