Former Minister of State Nimal Lansa today (04) warned that if the government decides to continue to ignore the voice of the people, more than 50 members of parliament, including Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna MPs, will act independently in parliament.
“If the government decides to remain in power despite the voice of the people, more than 50 SLFP MPs will remain independent in parliament,” he said.
Speaking to the media he further warned that when the parliament convenes tomorrow (05) those MPs will ensure that the government loses 113 majority seats in the parliament.
Former Minister of State Nimal Lansa made this statement after all the cabinet ministers handed over their resignations to the Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday.
The cabinet has been forced to resign following massive protests across the country over Sri Lanka’s worsening economic crisis.
