Last June was the month in which the largest number of passports were issued in the history of Sri Lanka according to the Department of Immigration .
Piyumi Bandara, Media Spokesperson of the Immigration and Emigration Department, said that the number of passports issued in the month of June alone has exceeded 100,000 and the number of passports issued since last January is about 400,000.
It was significant that the majority of those who have applied for passports to go abroad in the past are young people.
The head office of the Immigration and Emigration Department said that the appointments were made for next 60 days for applications for obtaining travel document under the one-day service and if anyone wants to go abroad urgently for a job, the department should contact the telephone number 0706311711 to confirm it through WhatsApp Media spokesman said.
