A special joint operation has been launched under the direct supervision of the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) to arrest Suspended IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon, who is currently evading arrest. Intelligence teams have been deployed to track down his whereabouts.

Police sources confirmed that not only Deshabandu Tennakoon but anyone found assisting him in evading arrest will also be taken into custody as per the law. Authorities have intensified efforts across multiple locations following reports that several individuals may be aiding his escape.

Court of Appeal issued a significant ruling yesterday (March 17), rejecting Deshabandu Tennakoon’s appeal to prevent his arrest. The court clearly stated that there were sufficient grounds to proceed with legal action against him, paving the way for law enforcement to arrest him immediately.

Meanwhile, police stations island-wide have been placed on alert, and lookout notices have been issued at all major exit points, including airports and ports, to prevent Deshabandu from fleeing the country.
