The modern passenger terminal at Jaffna – Kankasanthura built by the Sri Lanka Ports Authority was inaugurated under the chairmanship of the Minister of Ports and Aviation Nimal Siripalada Silva.
The new passenger terminal was opened with the arrival of the ship Cordelia, which brought a group of tourists from India, to the port of Kankasanthure.
Minister Nimal Siripalada Silva welcomed the people from the ship and presented a commemorative gift to the captain of the ship.
After the commencement of the proposed passenger boat service between India and Sri Lanka, this passenger terminal has been set up to accommodate the people coming by boat.
In addition to the new passenger terminal, the Sri Lanka Port Authority has also launched many development activities to improve other facilities needed by passengers in the area.
