The CID recorded statements from IGP Chandana Wickramaratne regarding the May 09 attacks on peaceful protesters in Galle Face and Kollupitiya. In addition tp him STF Commadant DIG Waruna Jayasundara also gave a statement over the same incident today Police sources further said.
Speaking in Parliament earlier this week, Minister Ramesh Pathirana strongly accused the IGP and the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security of being responsible for the Galle Face attack. National People’s Movement MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake also leveled the same charges against the IGP.
The CID decided to record statements from the IGP and the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security over the allegations that they were deliberately failed to stop the attacks.
