Policy decision has been taken not to distribute fuel to petrol stations where there are aggressive behaviour of public near fuel stations,Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said .

He stated this addressing a media conference held today (21).

The Minister said that political parties and organized groups are in the process of disrupting the supply chain in an environment where a planned program to eliminate all these fuel queues has been launched in the country by next Monday.

He assured that there would be no shortage of fuel in any way and that the people were kindly advised not to stay in queues for the last three days, considering the time it would take for the scientific method of distribution to be carried out after a standard inspection of fuel stocks unloaded in a country without fuel reserves.

The Minister pointed out that due to the inclement weather, there was a shortage of fuel in the last few days due to the inability of the ships to unload fuel, the ships being delayed and the ships arriving unable to pay. That. He urged the people not to doubt that there will be no return of fuel or an increase in fuel prices as there are stocks of fuel for the next two weeks.

“A diesel ship arrived on the 14th night. Checked quality and landed on the 15th. Then one day it should be deposited in our storages. After that the quality is checked and distributed to 1190 filling stations around the country. This process takes at least 3 days. That is why I told not to wait in line for three days. ”

“On average, the daily release of fuel is 4,000 tons – or 4,500 tons. But we gave up to 7500 daily. Due to this increase in demand, the fuel stock covering 10 days ended in 06 days. So we respectfully request … do not collect fuel unnecessarily. Let us all come together to manage this difficult situation. “

“ At this moment another diesel ship an another petrol tanker is landing. we have paid for another petrol tanker. The transactions were settled after confirming those payments yesterday. The ship should start unloading after the operation of the ships currently unloading fuel.

In the next 10 days, two more diesel and one petrol tanker will arrive. Ships that land today, tomorrow and on the 25th have 95 petrol. There will be no shortage of 95 petrol. Diesel Auto Diesel Petrol 92 and 95 continue to be available. If these operations are allowed, we can eliminate these fuel queues by Monday.

People should be informed. If the roads are closed, petrol station owners and transporters are harassed, if the recommendations given to them are not implemented, the process will completely collapse.
