Former Colombo District MP Hirunika Premachandra and 14 others who were arrested on Yesterday (14) were released on personal bail of Rs. 500,000/- by Colombo Chief Magistrate Chandana Amarasinghe on Today (15).
Mrs Premachandra was arrested by the Cinnamon Gardens Police on several charges while she was leading a protest over harassment against women,
The Samagi Vanitha Balawegaya engaged in a demonstration calling to end violence against women in view of “the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women” which is commemorated in November.
