It is reported that the helicopter of Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla, who is in Sri Lanka for a three-day official visit, found a technical defect while he was in Trincomalee today (03).
The Indian Foreign Secretary, who left Colombo, arrived in Kandy this morning and left for Trincomalee after paying homage to the Temple of the Tooth by a MI 17 Helicopter of Sri Lanka Air Force.
The top Diplomat took part in a product launch by LIOC in Trincomalee and visited lower tank farms of the oil tank complex of China Bay. However, due to a technical fault in the helicopter, the Air Force has brought another aircraft from Colombo to take the Indian Foreign Secretary to Jaffna.
Commenting on this, the Air Force Media spokesman Group Captain Dushan Wijesinghe said, “It is common practice to reserve an additional aircraft for special dignitaries when planning a flight for them.” An Air Force spokesman told Lankasara that after identifying a technical fault in the helicopter carrying the Foreign Secretary, a Y12 light aircraft was brought in to facilitate the Foreign Secretary’s flight to Jaffna.
