The Association of Government Medical Officers has decided to declare a “black week” from the 23rd in order to register their protest against recent taxation and severe drug shortage prevailing on the island.
Dr. Haritha Aluthge, secretary of the association, said that black week will be declared against the shortage of drugs in the country’s hospital system and the arbitrary tax revision of the government.
The Secretary said that the relevant approval was received at the meeting of the Executive Council of the Government Medical Officers Association this morning.
Dr. Haritha Aluthge further stated in a press conference held today that a protest movement has also been organized in Colombo on the coming Friday.
