Undergraduate boy friend of the slain girl remanded
Arrested university student for allegedly murdering his girlfriend with a sharp weapon yesterday at Race Course grounds of Colombo 07 was ordered to be remanded till January 30 by the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
The suspect was arrested last evening by Cinnamon Gardens Police and Produced before Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis today.
The counsel who appeared on behalf of the suspect told the court that his client is suffering from a mental illness and sought an order directing the Prison Authorities to produce him before a psychiatrist. Accordingly, the suspect was ordered to be produced before a medical officer at the National Institute of Mental Health.
