The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has urged the fuel station owners to ration the issue of petrol to motorcycles,three-wheelers cars and other vehicles.
Accordingly, three-wheelers and motorcycles are entitled to Rs 2000 worth of petrol daily while cars, vans, SUV.s and similar vehicles can pump petrol up to Rs 8000.
However, this will not apply to buses and other commercial vehicles running on diesel. The CPC also states that issuing petrol to cans and other similar containers stopped immediately.
The CPC has informed the petrol station owners that holding stocks without distributing constitutes an offence. Fuel supplies to fuel stations are likely to be suspended.
Fuel supplies to several fuel distributors who had worked outside these guidelines were suspended.
They are Kelaniya, Nalla Mirigiama and South Makola.
