Former Speaker Ashoka Ranwala was admitted to hospital yesterday (11) after the jeep he was driving was involved in a collision in the Sapugaskanda–Denimulla area.
Police said Ranwala sustained injuries when his vehicle collided with a car yesterday afternoon. A 25-year-old woman, her six-month-old infant and the child’s 55-year-old grandmother, who were travelling in the car, were also injured and taken to hospital.
The infant has since been transferred to the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for specialised treatment, according to police.
Sapugaskanda Police have commenced further investigations into the incident.
