Imran Khan, Pakistan’s former Prime Minister, has been placed in judicial custody for a period of two weeks on charges of disclosing state secrets, as confirmed by his lawyer.
In the context of the “Cypher” case, a special court extended Khan’s custody until September 13. The extension follows a hearing that took place at the Attock city jail premises.
The allegations against Khan center on the accusation that he publicly disclosed the contents of a memorandum dispatched by Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States. Furthermore, it is alleged that Khan utilized this information for political advantage.
This development unfolds just after the Islamabad High Court suspended Khan’s three-year prison sentence related to corruption charges.
