Former Navy Commander Nishantha Ulugetenne has been remanded until the 30th of July.
He was arrested today (28) by the Criminal Investigation Department in connection with an abduction that took place in the Pothuhera area during his tenure as Director of Navy Intelligence.
The case relates to a person who was initially arrested by the police in 2010 and later admitted to a hospital due to fever . However, the individual went missing from the hospital and was later found to have been held at a Navy camp in Trincomalee.
Following his arrest, the former Navy Commander was produced before the Polgahawela Magistrate’s Court, where the Magistrate ordered that he be remanded until July 30.
