A tragic accident in Kalutara has claimed the life of a 33-year-old man and left his wife hospitalized, according to the Kalutara North Police.
The incident occurred when a three-wheeler, carrying a couple, collided with a lorry traveling from Colombo to Galle, transporting chickens for meat. The collision proved fatal for the husband, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased hailed from the Waskaduwa area.
Following the initial impact, the three-wheeler continued forward for about thirty meters before colliding with an electric pole and a lottery box, exacerbating the severity of the accident.
Authorities have reported that the lorry driver fled the scene following the collision. Efforts are currently underway to apprehend the driver, with the Kalutara North Police spearheading the investigation.
