The Minister of Health has an appointed an expert committee of specialists to conduct an impartial formal investigation over the recent incidents with regards to the medicine allergies and deaths.
Headed by Dr. Dedunu Dias, Director of the Medical Research Institute, the committee brings together a diverse group of medical professionals with specialized expertise. Among its members are Professor Chandima Jeevandara, an esteemed authority in Allergy and Immunology, and Professor Priyadarshini Galappatti, a renowned Pharmacology expert.

The committee’s composition also includes Dr. Senitha Liyanage, a Specialist in Emergency Medicine, and Professor Nitushi Samaranayake, an expert in Medicine. Contributing to the committee’s holistic approach are Professor of Nursing S.P.P. Varnakulasuriya and Dr. Philip H. Lee, a distinguished board member of the Institute of Immunology.
This appointment was made by the Director General of Health Services upon the recommendation of the Minister of Health. Emphasizing the urgency of the matter, the committee has been tasked with providing their comprehensive report within three weeks, starting from today (17).
