Electrical engineers will be removed from all maintenance work from 4.30 pm today CEB Engineers union secretary Dhammika Wimalaratne told to Lankasara.

He further said that as soon as two additional General Managers were sent on compulsory leave without any logical reason by the chairman and following the Chairman’s arbitrary decision around 600 engineers gathered to the Chairman’s office and expressed their displeasure over the decision.

The Secretary further said.
“The Additional General Manager in charge of transmissions sent on compulsory leave by the Chairman is a very responsible and honest officer. He is Janaka Aluthge. ”
He has to sign controversial New Fortress contract. Since the deal was challenged by the Supreme Court , He did not sign it. Because he doesn’s t do any wrong thing. He is a person who acts on his honest ideas. He said there are five cases in the Supreme Court and refused to sign the agreement until the court decision. That is why he is being sent on compulsory leave. ”

If the Chairman made such decision such a he should face his stand by on that. But he was frightened and fled.

“We have a suspicion that this chairman is trying to sabotage this system by inciting the CEB Engineers’ Union to go on strike.”

However, all trade unions are taking legal action against this move. Secretary Engineer Dhammika Wimalaratne said.
