A 75-year-old woman collapsed and died while giving a statement at the Jaffna police station.
The woman, S. Malar, had contacted the police yesterday (13) regarding a suicide incident in Malar’s Fourth Cross Street residence in Jaffna. A male individual from Mallavi area in Mullaitivu has hanged himself while overstaying at the Malar’s residence.
Upon her arrival at the police station, Malar suddenly lost consciousness, causing immediate concern among those present. Despite swift efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead upon reaching the Jaffna Teaching Hospital.
To determine the cause of her collapse and subsequent passing, a post-mortem examination will be conducted at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital. Meanwhile, the Jaffna Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
