Renowned figure Dr. Pratibha Mahanama Hewa has called for decisive legal action against the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board, accusing him of arbitrary actions that have led to the betrayal of Sri Lankan cricket.
Dr. Hewa recommends the immediate suspension of the chairman’s service and the initiation of a comprehensive investigation. He underscores the significance of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board’s autonomy in controlling cricket within the country, despite being under the jurisdiction of the ICC.
In exploring legal avenues, Dr. Pratibha Mahanama Hewa points to the newly enacted Bribery and Corruption Act as a means to scrutinize the chairman’s activities. He urges the opposition to utilize the audit report and present it to the newly appointed committee, the Fraud and Corruption Commission, for immediate action.
Furthermore, Dr. Hewa emphasizes the Sports Act, stating that if the chairman is found guilty under Sections 32, 34, and 36, punitive measures, including potential penalties, can be administered.
