Cricketer Niroshan Dickwella admitted on August 23 that he used cocaine. Dickwella, who captained the Goal Mavalas team in the LPL tournament and led them to the finals, was called before the Sports Disciplinary Committee at the Sports Academy. The committee questioned him about the use of banned substances.
Dickwella appeared before the committee at around 2:30 p.m. and spoke for about an hour and a half. During this time, he admitted to using cocaine.
A random urine test conducted during the tournament confirmed that he had used the drug. Last week, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board suspended him indefinitely.
