Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has launched an initial investigation over a video that went viral on social media of two Sri Lankan Cricketers, Niroshan Dikwella and Kusal Mendis.

Accordingly, SLC has called for a report from the team manager to verify the authenticity of the video showing two of them roaming the streets of Durham breaking the biosafety bubble and hotel curfew rules on Sunday (27).

The video showed the players were smoking and roaming without face masks too. The Sri Lankan team touring in England under a bio-bubble as part of the ongoing cricket tournament. They are preparing for the first ODI in Durham tomorrow (29).

As Sri Lanka lost all the T 20 marches against England, the team was heavily criticized by fans all over the world through social media. Against the backdrop of this criticism this video went viral has accumulated criticism at a peak.

“Familiar faces in Durham tonight, enjoying their tour! Obviously not here to play cricket, this video was taken at 23.28 Sunday. A disappointing performance by these cricket players but not forgetting to enjoy their night at Durham,” a Sri Lankan cricket fan had commented, posting the video on Facebook.”
