Dhaniz Ali found guilty of using a mobile phone while in remand sentenced with 14 days imprisonment!

Dhaniz Ali, who was arrested recently in an air craft and remanded in connection to the incident of forcibly entering the national television and interrupting the broadcast, threatening and several other charges, has been sentenced to 14 days imprisonment after admitting the guilt of using a mobile phone in the remand prison.

Dhaniz Ali, who was remanded in custody until the 15th of this month after being presented to the Colombo Magistrate’s Court on the 27th, was sent to the magazine prison, and the bail order was scheduled to be announced on that day.


But he was accused of using a mobile phone which is an illegal prohibited device according to the prison rules while in the custody of New Magazine Prison and was presented to the Prison Tribunal today.

Then the suspect pleaded guilty to the charge before the Colombo Additional District Judge and was sentenced to 14 days in jail and transferred to Welikada Prison.
