Dilum Amunugama , Minister of Transport speculates that current fuel crisis will last for next five days as the government waits for Diesel shipment under Indian credit line.
He further says that now SLTB also runs out of their Diesel stocks and unable to supply fuel for private buses.
A 13-hour power cut is in effect in the country today (31) marking the worst socio-economic collapse in the history of Sri Lanka since independence.
More than half of the restaurants are now closed. Private transport services have collapsed. Electrical engineers warned yesterday that the new year would be dark if there was no rain with God’s help.

If the diesel crisis continues like this, all private buses will have to be taken out of service after next Monday, said the President of the Private Bus Owners’ Association Gemunu Wijeratne.
