All the trade associations representing the business community in Kandy have decided to close all their shops and take to the streets for one day in this week Yasas Chandrasekara, Senior Vice President of the Kandy Sinhala Welenda Peramuna said.
He added that the exact date for the protest would be decided by all trade union leaders today.
Eight organizations including the Kandy Muslim Traders Association, Kandy Hindu Hindu Traders Association, Kandy Torrington Traders Association, Central Trade Association, Sinhala Trade Front, Katugastota Traders Association, Menikkumbura Economic Traders Association and Peradeniya Traders Association have joined hands in the protest.
Mr. Chandrasekera further said that the government, which has lost its economic stability, is ready to review the country’s economy and present a proposal with a practical program to bring economic stability to the government.
