At least 520  journalists have died from covid-19 in 57 countries across the world according to the Geneva based NGO Press Emblem Campaign.

Ten most affected countries out of the total of 520 dead are Peru 93, India 51, Brazil 45, Ecuador 41, Bangladesh 40, Mexico 37, USA 26, Turkey 15, Pakistan 12, UK 11.

The Press Emblem Campaign said media workers have an important role to play in the fight against the virus, they have to inform about the spread of Covid-19.

“The safety of media workers is particularly at risk in this crisis because they must continue to provide information on the ground. A number of them died for lack of adequate protective measures when doing their job” the organization said.
