Committee Concludes Investigation into MP Diana’s Incident

Committee Chairman Deputy Speaker Ajith Rajapakse delivered the report of the Parliamentary Committee, appointed by the Speaker, to investigate the incident that occurred on October 20,2023 within the Parliament premises.

The committee, chaired by Deputy Speaker Ajith Rajapakse, was formed to address complaints from both sides regarding an altercation involving Diana Gamage, Rohana Bandara, and Sujith Sanjay Perera. Other members of the committee included Chamal Rajapaksa, (Dr.) Ramesh Pathirana, Gayantha Karunathilaka, Imtiaz Bakir Makar, lawyer Talatha Athukorala, and State Minister (Dr.) Sita Arambepola.

Having convened four times, the committee questioned the three MPs implicated in the incident, as well as Minister of State Piyal Nishantha, who provided evidence related to the occurrence.

Chief of Staff and Deputy General Secretary of Parliament Chaminda Kularatne were also present during the submission of the committee report.
