6-year-old student in Grade 01 lost their life, and six other students sustained injuries when a wall, housing a water tap, collapsed at Weragoda Kanitu Vidyalaya, Wellampitiya.
Currently, five children are receiving treatment at Colombo National Hospital, while another child in critical condition is being attended to at Borella Children’s Hospital.
The incident occurred during the school’s break time when the insecure wall collapsed on the children who were at the tap.
The Grandpass Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
