A colonel serving as a volunteer liaison officer at the Trincomalee No. 22 Force Headquarters and an individual from the Nawaladi area have been remanded until February 15th, 2024, by the Batticaloa High Court Judge Thiru Chellam Joseph Prabhakaran. The individuals are allegedly involved in a murder that occurred in the Valachchena area ten years ago.

The case dates back to May 16, 2013, relating to the killing of Mohammad Hussain in the Valachchena area. Aziz Juan Hachi Mohammadu, who held the rank of Major in the Navaladi Army Camp at that time, and Siam Ul Haq, a resident of the Nawaladi area, were initially arrested by the Valachchena Police and subsequently released on bail under specified conditions.

Recently, the Valachchena Police reported to the court that both suspects had violated the bail conditions by failing to sign in at the Valachchena police station after April 21st, 2021. Upon their appearance at the Batticaloa High Court today (09), the judge ordered their remand until February 15th, 2024. The court proceedings will continue as the legal process unfolds.
