Theshara Jayasinghe, the Chairman of Litro Gas, has resigned from his post yesterday (14) stating that the gas crisis is the result of a chain of events which he is unable to control and is taking place according to a pre-arranged script.
He has written a letter to President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa stating that although he had the full support and blessings of the President, he did not have the support of Basil Rajapaksa, the former Minister of Finance, and ministry officials.
It was pointed out to the President that the current gas crisis cannot be resolved at the institutional level and that it should be done with the commitment and will of the authorities who manage the economy of the entire country and that neither the former Minister of Finance nor the relevant authorities have deliberately provided the necessary policy support to resolve this crisis.
