An interim order issued by the Supreme Court today  suspending the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers to allow former President Maithripala Sirisena to continuous use of the Paget road residence currently used by him at Paget Road. The government owned property which was used as the official residence by former president was in office is still use by him.

This order will be effective until the final determination after hearing the  petition by the Supreme Court.

Three-judge-bench comprising Justice Preethi Padman Surasena, Justice Yasantha Kodagoda and Justice Mahinda Samayawardena made this order pursuant to a Fundamental Rights petition filed by Centre for Policy Alternatives (CPA) and its Executive Director, Dr. Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu.

In a motion former President Sirisena yesterday requested from the Supreme Court to appoint full of five member bench for the trial.
