Puttalam District Member of Parliament Ali Sabry Raheem was released on a surety bail of Rs. 200,000 after he surrendered to the police with a lawyer this morning. He was surrendered after an arrest order made by the Puttalam Magistrate.
Last March, a case was pending in the Kalpitiya-Kuringjanampitiya area for forcibly entering an NGO and pressuring its managers, and warrants were issued due to his failure to appear in court on several occasions when the case was called.
According to the order, MP Raheem surrendered to the Kalpitiya Police this morning and he was produced before the Acting Magistrate of Puttalam following the arrest.
