Arrest Made After Three-Year-Old Suffers Burn Injuries from Military Father

A twenty-four-year-old military man, identified as the father of a three-year-old girl, has been arrested by Diyabeduma police following an incident where the child sustained burn injuries to the upper part of her elbow from a lighter.

The victim was initially treated at Diyabeduma Hospital and later transferred to Polonnaruwa General Hospital for further medical attention.

The soldier’s wife, residing at Diyabeduma’s Atthanakadawala address, reported the incident to Diyabeduma police yesterday (12). Subsequently, the relevant army personnel were apprehended by law enforcement.

The arrested soldier is associated with the Kantale Sinipura Artillery Regiment base. He is scheduled to appear in the Higurakgoda Magistrate’s Court today (13).
