Sajith Premadasa, the presidential candidate of the Samagi Jana Balavegaya, claimed there is an agreement between independent candidate Ranil Wickremesinghe and National People’s Power candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake. He stated that voting for either of them would be a waste.
Speaking at a rally in Minuwangoda, Premadasa said, “United National Party members should not waste their votes by supporting President Ranil Wickremesinghe. A vote for Wickremesinghe is essentially a vote for Anura Dissanayake. And a vote for Dissanayake supports those who have misused public money.”
Premadasa further stated, “Wickremesinghe’s recent statements show that he lacks confidence in winning. There seems to be some sort of understanding between him and Dissanayake. Both are afraid of a government led by a united people’s force, which would improve the nation.”
He added, “They fear progress—building houses, modernizing schools, improving the health sector. Wickremesinghe is also afraid of an era where the country will be led by real leaders. But the people of Sri Lanka are not foolish; they cannot be deceived.”
