Canadian Acting High Commissioner for Sri Lanka Daniel Bood was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today and the Minister Ali Sabry has expressed the deep regret of the Government on the sanctions imposed on the former Sri Lankan Presidents Mahinda Rajapaksa, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, and two others.
An official of the Ministry has told to the media that Minister Sabry has registered his strong objection against the move by the Canadian government based on false allegations.
Earlier, the Foreign Ministry had called the move by the Canadian government as ‘harmful’ to the local reconciliation process.
