Acting Deputy Director of the Colombo National Hospital, Dr. Rukshan Bellana, has been suspended.
The suspension has been imposed pending a disciplinary inquiry. A formal disciplinary investigation will be conducted against him, according to a letter issued under the letterhead of the Ministry of Health.
The letter states that, as a government medical officer holding a responsible position, Dr. Bellana made statements to the media without obtaining prior approval. It further notes that these statements created a controversial situation in the country and caused public unrest through various media platforms.
