The Gampaha Police have initiated an inquiry after a premature human foetus was discovered in the Gampaha Lyceum International College’s row of restrooms.
The investigators may obtain a Magisterial order on the matter compelling the female pupils to undergo medical examinations if the school declines to extend the required assistance for further inquiry.
This decision has been taken as the investigators have found that the victim of the crime involving the foetus is very likely to be one of the female students.
The investigators have drawn attention to the fact that the foetus was not found in the toilet system of the female teachers, and that the foetus was found in the toilet of the female students due to an incident that occurred after school intervals.
On the evening of the 20th, the maid who went to clean the women’s toilet at the school found this foetus and complained to the Bemmulla police about it.
After receiving the complaint, Bemmulla police officers and Gampaha Criminal Investigation Department officials initiated an investigation.
The CID says that a crime has taken place, and since the police have the responsibility to uncover the crime without harming the victims,
If the school does not extend sufficient support for future investigations, they may seek a court order.
