The National AIDS and STD Program alarms that the prevalence of AIDS among young school-aged children has increased.

Dr. Rasanjali Hettiarachchi, director of the AIDS program, points out that many of these students are believed to have resorted to unsafe sexual behavior due to the stimulation created by watching sexual videos on the Internet along with online education.

She stated that most of these patients were found in Gampaha and Kandy areas of Colombo and most of them were young boys.

In a statement to the Derana website today, the doctor said that so far this year, 53 new infected people between the ages of 15 and 30 have been identified.

“We think that the increase in AIDS among these young children has been greatly affected by the fact that most of these children have gone to study online and have been sexually stimulated by watching many sex-related videos.”

“Young boys are mostly young boys. In 2022, 30 young boys have become HIV positive. ”

“The first two quarters up to June. Most are in districts like Colombo, Gampaha and Kandy.”
