According to our vision, the upcoming local government election is a democratic opportunity for the people in this country to show their dissent toward the Rajapaksas.

In 2022, the people of this country drove away the former president and the government through direct action. The evicted people are once again trying to grab power through LG elections, in spite of the huge public humiliation and disgust they underwent.

. We consider this opportunity of holding the LG elections as an opening to protest and show the people’s disgust towards the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, especially its leader, Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The government has no money today. No decentralized funds If the government does not have money, it is very difficult to collect assessment rates. Therefore, these regional councils and municipal councils are going to be in a lot of trouble. We think that the only political benefit of this is that this is a unique opportunity to express the public’s revulsion against the Rajapaksa family, the family that has driven the country to bankruptcy.

We did not form the 43 Brigade as a political party or aim at the elections. But after we went into bankruptcy last year, we decided to transform into a new political party and political movement in the future. But we ran out of time for that. However, we hope that after this local government election, a new political movement will come into being with the people who can govern the country. In the meantime, we are forming an alliance with the New Lanka Freedom Party to contest several LG bodies as an objective to build the broad unity that this group of like-minded people feels the country needs at this time.
