Polish Ambassador for Sri Lanka Dhammika Kumari Semasinghe said that 37 Sri Lankans who were stranded in Ukraine due to the war have now reached the Polish border.
“37 Sri Lankans have come to Poland from Ukraine. They want to return to Sri Lanka as soon as possible . Today also 5 Sri Lankans have entered Poland. They are currently staying at the embassy. ”
“Among those who expressed their desire to come to Sri Lanka, a student will be taken to Wozniacki tomorrow and sent to Sri Lanka. The only international airport in the area is Warsaw. She said.
She explained that the IDPs in Ukraine had been given the opportunity to stay in Poland for as long as possible, and that they had been provided with all the facilities they needed and even the transportation to travel to a Western European country.
