The new 22nd Amendment to the Constitution was gazetted yesterday (29).
The amendments include the establishment of a Constitutional Council, the establishment of nine commissions, a reduction in the powers of the President and the removal of the dual citizens from entering Parliament or any other higher position in the country.
The Cabinet on Monday decided to gazette the Bill presented to the Cabinet by the Minister of Justice Wijedasa Rajapaksa and obtained approval.
It is to be presented to Parliament and passed.
