2.4 Billion USD pledge from India – Basil prepares to visit again!

Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa is scheduled to pay an official visit to India in the next two weeks. External Affairs Minister Professor G.L Peiris said that the agreement was to complete the $ 2.4 billion agreement that India has agreed to provide to Sri Lanka.

The Minister said that Sri Lanka needs to get the money from India to buy food and medicine physically from that money as soon as possible.

Minister GL Peiris stated this while participating in a press conference held at the Sri Lanka Podujana Party headquarters today (14).

Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Finance visited India in December and held fruitful discussions with the Minister of Finance of India and the Minister of External Affairs of India. Hon. Basil Rajapaksa will have to return to India within two weeks to sign and finalize the agreements to be received by Sri Lanka expeditiously.
