A 16-year-old girl, identified as Siva Perumal Krishan, lost her life after being stung by wasps in the upper area of the Bambarakale garden within the jurisdiction of the Nuwara Eliya police yesterday (20) evening.
Accompanied by three other girls, all residents of Bambarakale Estate, the group had ventured out to chop firewood when they encountered a swarm of wasps.
The attack resulted in all four girls being stung and subsequently admitted to Nuwara Eliya General Hospital for treatment.
Unfortunately, the condition of the 16-year-old girl deteriorated rapidly, and despite medical efforts, she passed away.
The Nuwara Eliya Police have initiated investigations into the incident.
