Dr. Sudharshani writes to President over 14 days lockdown

State Minister Dr.Sudarshani Fernandopulle has written to the President requesting to consider on lockdown the country for 14 days Lankasara learns. According to the sources she has referred the views of globally proclaimed medical experts to close the country for 14 days in order to curb the trend of catastrophic expansion of the Covid pandemic.
Malik Peiris, Professor of Virology at the University of Hong Kong, a Sri Lankan international scholar who has made significant contributions to the world of the SARS virus that causes the Covid pandemic and Professor Kamani Mendis, a former dean of the Colombo Faculty of Medicine and WHO consultant following a research assessment, recommended that the country be locked down for a period of 14 days. State Minister who is also a medical practitioner has received same opinion from various experts in the field on the same issue.
Speaking to the media today, the Minister Dry Sudarshani said that the number of people infected with coved was about three times higher than the number reported daily and that there was a risk of further spread of the virus in the community. She urged people to stay at home as much as possible without clashing with society.
