Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Health has issued a ten point guideline to the public regarding Christmas shopping during the month of December and has requested the public to adhere to them.
- Reduce Christmas shopping excursions as much as possible
- Ensure that only one member of the family goes out to do the shopping
- Purchase items from the nearest store when it is less crowded
- When standing in queue ensure you maintain 1-metre social distance.
- Refrain from physical contact when greeting people during the season and maintain social distance at all times.
- Refrain from organization Christmas parties and other celebrations that cause people to congregate.
- Limit or refrain from taking fun trips of holidays or travelling during the Christmas holidays.
- Refrain from exposing the elderly to crowds during the holidays
- Use online shopping services whenever possible
- Whenever you leave the house make sure your mask is on and that you maintain social distancing. Sanitize your hands regularly.
