The government has reduced the financial vote allocated for the -1990 Suvasariya Foundation, which has played a dominant role during the Corona epidemic in facilitating the public, the National Audit Office said in a report.
On August 19, 2019, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to reduce the financial allocation granted to the Suvasariya Foundation from the financial years 2021,2022 and 2023 to 25% and 50%, respectively.
The audit report has revealed that, following the reduction of financial allocations, the government has asked for a viable proposal to maintain the foundation. However, no such proposal has come to light until November 30, 2021.
According to stipulated articles of the Suvasariya Foundation, the government should reimburse the recurrent expenditure incurred for the operational activities.
As of January 1, 2020, the government had failed to reimburse an amount of 337,179.826 rupees to the Suvasariya Foundation.
The audit report also states that the total amount due for 2020 from the state stands at 405,224,284 rupees.
In the circumstances, the National Audit Office has proposed the need to devise a viable scheme where the Suvaseriya ambulance service could operate efficiently.
