Borella Postmaster and three others tests positive for Covid 19

Post office closed temporarily

The Postmaster of the Borella Post office has tested positive for Covid 19. According to the Postmaster General Ranjith Ariyaratne, three other staffers of the post office have also tested positive for the Virus.

The post office has been temporarily closed and is to be disinfected, Ariyaratne said. He also said there is a delay in distributing letters and packages as most trains and SLTB busses are still not operating their full schedule. As a result the department has had to utilizes its own vehicles for the distribution process.

He said as a result the average time to deliver a letter now is around two days. He said the majority of the delay is in Colombo and its urban areas.
