As of 2:30 a.m., the system was located 100 km northeast of Trincomalee. It is expected to move slowly north-northwest and intensify into a cyclonic storm later today.

These areas are likely to experience very heavy rain (over 150 mm), frequent thunderstorms, and strong winds of 60-70 km/h.
Heavy showers exceeding 100 mm are expected, along with strong winds. can be expected in North Central & North-western Provinces, Matale, and Kegalle Districts Rainfall and occasional thunderstorms will occur across the island. Winds up to 40-50 km/h are possible in other areas of the country.
